"The most meaningful photographs aren't the perfect ones—they're the ones that remind us who we loved, how we laughed, and that we were together."
The Sunshine Project
For as long as I can remember, I've believed that photographs are one of the few things that grow more valuable with time. They let us revisit the laughter, the quiet moments, the celebrations, and the people we love most.
My mom was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer and that belief became even more personal. It reminded me that life can change in an instant, and that the ordinary moments we sometimes overlook often become the ones we treasure the most.
The Sunshine Project has been something on my mind for years, and after a diagnosis that has given me little control with a lot of fear wondering if my "I love you's" on the phone are now limited, it's time to bring it to life. The Sunshine Project is inspired by my mom because she is sunshine. It is her favorite thing in this world, feeling it on her skin, the high blue skies and the calmness of Golden Hour.
A few years ago, I gathered my family together and did a photoshoot. It brought us closer together and now we have those moments on our walls and in our phones to hold close when everything else in the world feels out of our control.
As a photographer, I have the privilege of documenting some of life's happiest days. But I also believe those same memories matter during life's hardest seasons. Every family deserves photographs they can look back on—not because everything was perfect, but because they were together.
That's why I'm passionate about offering complimentary sessions to families affected by cancer or diseases that take away time from our loved ones. My hope is to remove one small burden and give them something that will only become more meaningful with time: tangible memories filled with love, connection, and the people who matter most.
Because no one should have to wonder if they captured enough moments with the people they love.
